Milford Sound continued (March 3)

We arrived at Milford Sound on time to board the Milford Mariner for a 2 1/2 hr. nature cruise.

Although the occasional misty rain came and went, meaning that there were some hazy views, the rain filled the Sound with waterfalls.  There were 2 decks on the ship with inside seating and some outside uncovered viewing areas ... I bounced back and forth between them.  The cruise, which took us the length of the sound out to the Tasman Sea and back, was peaceful and pretty.  We saw dolphins and seals, in addition to scores of waterfalls.  It was an afternoon well spent.

The ride back to Queenstown was long, and we were tired and hungry when we arrived back.  We walked across to a pub, where I ordered fish & chips and a cold beer, which we enjoyed while watching the Canterbury Crusaders pound the Capetown Stormers in Super Rugby on the telly.  Then it was back to the room to repack for the trip to Mt. Cook and back to Christchurch.
